FULLY RESTORED Lodge NO NOTCH Heat Ring #8 Cast Iron Skillet Sits Flat UNMARKED For Sale

There is little question that this is an unmarked Lodge cast iron skillet with aninset no notch heat ring and a raised "8" on top of the handle. There are no markings on the back, other than a small indented blob. These factors along with the shape of the handle make this skillet virtually identical to marked Lodge skillets made between 1910 and 1920. I believe this skillet pre-dates marked Lodge skillets--but it could just as easily be a transitional Lodge skillet of some sort made after 1920, but before the marked and unmarked single notch skillets appeared. Some might argue Blacklock, but I doubt it. Who knows, as no one has ever seen a marked Blacklock skillet for comparison and the designs and drawings were destroyed when the factory burned around 1910. Regardless, it is a fine antique Lodge example.

This skillet has no cracks, breaks, or repairs.It has been restored byme--thoroughly returned to raw cast iron, seasoned properly at a hightemperature, and is ready to display or use. This is a time consuming process.No harsh methods were used on this skillet. While there may be some unevennessin how the seasoning took, it has a very nice cooking surface with only minorutensil marks and very minor pitting marks on the cooking surface edges that will fill with time and additionalseasoning--see high resolution pictures and use the magnify feature. It is flat with only about 2 newspaper thicknesses of rock from 9-3 o'clock when tested on a flat granite surface.
