HISTORY:Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (1844-1900)was a German philosopher, poet, musician, and philologist whose work has had a profound influence on contemporary world thought and Western culture.Nietzsche wrote on topics as diverse as art, philology, music, history, religion, science, or tragedy. He made a critique of Western culture, religion and philosophy through the genealogy of the concepts that integrate them, based on the analysis of moral attitudes (positive and negative) towards life. The influence exercised on Nietzsche by the German philosopherArthur Schopenhauer, whom he considered his teacher, is highly remarkable, although it is true that he did not dogmatically follow the ideas of the latter, and in many aspects he distanced himself from his thought, even going so far as to make a radical critique of his philosophical ideas. He pondered the consequences of the triumph of Enlightenment secularism, expressed in his remark\"God is dead,\"in a way that determined the agenda of many of the most celebrated intellectuals after his death. Although there are those who maintain that the defining characteristic of Nietzsche is not so much the subject matter that he dealt with as the style and subtlety with which he did so, he was an author who introduced, like no other, a worldview that has reorganized the thought of the 20th century. in authors such asMartin Heidegger, Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, Gilles Deleuze, Georges Bataille, Gianni Vattimo or Michel Onfray, among others. Nietzsche received wide recognition during the second half of the 20th century as a significant figure in contemporary philosophy. His influence was particularly noticeable on existentialist, critical, phenomenological, poststructuralist, and postmodern philosophers, and on the sociology of Max Weber. He is considered one of the three \"masters of suspicion\" (according to Paul Ricoeur\'s well-known expression), along withKarl Marx and Sigmund Freud.
