Francois Perier, one of France’s most revered actors, was born in 1919 and worked for just about every famous French director during his nearly 60 year career. In 1950, he co-starred as the servant of Death in one of the best French films ever made, Jean Cocteau’s “Orpheus”. In 1956, Francois became the first French actor to win a BAFTA for Best Actor for his strong performance in Rene Clement’s tragic “Gervaise”. He continued acting for another 40 years and passed away in 2002 at the age of 82.
Francois signed this 1940s, deckle-edged publicity photo in blue ink. The photo measures 3.5 x 5.5 inches and is in very good condition for being 80 years old. The ink in the signature has bled out a little though (see photo). The photo comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from one of Europe’s most respected autograph collectors, Philippe Petit from Belgium.
