FINE & CLEAN Vintage SARGENT VBM No409 4 Size Smooth Plane Patent 1890 Inv#FF01 For Sale

I am offering for sale this Fine Cleaned & Refurbished Vintage SARGENT VBM No409 Smooth Plane Patented 1890 Inv#FF01 This Sargent VBM Size 409 (similar to the Stanley No 4 size) smooth plane is in extra fine clean condition. It has been taken apart, cleaned and refurbished and is ready to go. The body's japanning is in used worn condition. It has a 1890 patent date barely visible on cutter and the number 409 behind frog. The plane measures: 9-7/8" L x 2-3/8" W. The hefty Sargent cutter measures: 6-1/2" L x 2" W. I always suggest sharpening for optimal use. The cheeks and sole have minor pitting and has the former owners name etched on each cheek near heel. It weighs 3 lbs 8 oz. The knob is in nice shape with only a few scratches & wear from use.
The tote has the former owners name etched on one side and a few chips out out of the tip (see close-ups). PLEASE NOTE: I do NOT true-up soles or sharpen cutters, I leave that up to you, the expert... This was plucked out of a carpenters workshop along with many other crisp and clean woodworking tools that I am currently listing. FOLLOW ME!!!
