EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Their first comic book appearance was in Feds 'n' Heads, published by Berkeley's Print Mint in 1968. In 1969 Shelton and three friends from Texas founded Rip Off Press in San Francisco, which took over publication of all subsequent Freak Brothers comics Feds 'N' Heads (Gilbert Shelton, Spring 1968): 1st printing, 5,000 copies, yellow road with white buildings and white sidewalk, solid-filled background bands, b&w, 24 pages. Cover price $0.35.
Feds 'N' Heads (Print Mint, 1968): 2nd printing, 5,000 copies & 3rd printing 9,500 copies (believed to be indistinguishable from one another), golden-brown road and buildings with purple sidewalk, stipple-filled (dotted) background bands. Gilbert Shelton story, cover and art, b&w, 28 pages. Cover price $0.35.
Feds 'N' Heads (Print Mint, 1970) printings 4-11, 10,000 – 30,000 copies each, b&w, 28 pages. Cover price $0.50–$0.70.
The first three printings have 35-cent cover prices. The 1st printing (5,000 copies) is 24 pages, has a yellow-colored road with white buildings and a white sidewalk on the front cover, and the background on the front cover is broken into three distinct bands of color. The 2nd (5,000 copies) and 3rd (9,500 copies) printings are 28 pages, have a brown-colored road with brown and orange buildings, the background has handmade stippling to blend the colors together.
