Eerie Magazine #1 1st Printing Warren Publishing Rare,Near Mint, Like New, EUC
This September 1965 magazine has been boarded and sleeved for a minimum of 25years. It is not professionally graded nor am I an expert but, in my opinion, it is in Near Mint, Like New condition. Thepages are white (NO yellowing!) with no tears or wrinkles and no rust aroundthe staples. It was removed from the sleeve for photos only. Ibelieve the history that the owner gave to me regarding this magazine. Over theyears her dad was in broadcasting, sales and publishing. He amassed alarge collection of unique publications that he accumulated in his file cabinet(s).Upon his death in 2002 she boarded and sleeved the majority of them and placedthem in boxes. One of her collections is now being offered here.
The Eerie Ashcan version is technically the firstissue of the magazine. It was released in a hurry to prevent Eerie Publicationsfrom using the title of Warren's second horror magazine. Two-hundred copieswere printed, but never distributed through traditional means (though some madetheir way to newsstands). You have foundone of those!
First printing vs. Second printing differences:
*Measurements: 5-1/4" wide x 7-1/4” tall and evenlytrimmed. The second printing measures the same BUT hasuneven, untrimmed edges so, if one were trimmed evenly, the measurements would beless. See last photos.
*Page 3, panel 5 Lines aresolid on original printing, as shown on roof of the house in the lower righthand corner but break up on second printings. See page 3 photos.
*Page 18, panel 5, in theupper-left hand corner, the large rear view of a bald headed man blends intosolid black and is unrecognizable. There is no bald headed man visible in theblack ink. On page 18, panel 5 in the second printing, thefigure of the bald headed man is clear and discernible. See page 18 photos.
