Early Antique N.P. Ames 1838 U.S. Military Powder Flask Pre Civil War Era.1838 N.P. Ames stamped on the flat part of the base of the spout.Has the WS Initials stamped on one side near the head of the eagle. The WS initials I believe is the inspector name William Smith.
The flask has been soldered at the seams where the two halves of the flask meet. About 4" on one side and about 3" on the other side.
Commonly called the Peace Flask because of the design on both sides. This well preserved flask has good patina and color to the brass.
The raised design has a spread winged eagle above a circle of 26 stars. The U.S, Shield at the center of a panoply of flags with crossed cannons. Measures approximately 9" in length. sold as pictured.
