Early (1920s) Lodge Raise No 9 (10\") Cast Iron Handle Griddle Ex Restored Cond For Sale

This is a hard to find early (1920s) Lodge No 9 cast iron griddle in fully restored condition. This example features a raised number \"9\" on the handle and a markers mark \"0\" bottom surface.The cooking surface has fine etching from corrosion. These are undetectable as you glide your fingers over a near glass smooth surface. Four sheets of printer paper slipped under one edge on the bottom stops movement on a granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin.

Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving. The cooking surfacehas hints of etching from corrosion and is near glass smooth to the touch. No chips, cracks or repairs.

This item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal of all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. The item is lightly seasoned with one round of Criscoat 450 for 1 hour. This item was photographed in a very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, the item will take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
