The silver-colored metal plate is from 1985, commemorating the 30th anniversary of Kroc\'s takeover of the business, 7,500 restaurants.
The plate contains the original \"slash\" logo representing the earliest restaurants, with the \"Speedie\" character (hamburger face which had a blinking blue neon light in one eye). It also contains the new/updated logo which incorporated the architectural \"arches\" into the now-world-famous golden arches in the shape of an M.
The SUGAR CUBE with 15 CENT HAMBURGERS on the wrapping is likely late 1950\'s-early 60\'s because prices for a burger went to 18 cents later. In 1959, there were about 100 McDonald\'s restaurants.
In 1955, when Ray Kroc bought McDonald\'s, there were 7 McDonald\'s stores. By 1960, there were over 100 franchises.By 1985, shortly after Kroc\'s death, McDonald\'s had 7,500 stores in 31 countries and had sold about 50 BILLION hamburgers.
Today, McDonald\'s has about 41,000 restaurants in about 120 countries around the world....and sells about 15 million hamburgers EVERY DAY. Its overall value is now estimated at $212 BILLION DOLLARS.
1 out of every 8 Americans has worked in a McDonald\'s at some point, all of which suggests that McDonald\'s memorabilia will be in demand for years and years to come.
