Seven unused oversized advertising postcards from Maxwell\'s Plum, the restaurant at 64th Street and First Avenue in New York City.
These are the restaurant\'s own pictures of itself — the leaded-glass ceiling, the carved bar-back, the ceramic tiger over the café room — and at 9 by 6 inches they frame like small prints rather than postcards.

Markings
No maker\'s or publisher\'s mark. The back of each card is printed with the restaurant\'s own imprint in dark blue script — \"Maxwell\'s Plum · Restaurant · Cafe · Gathering Place, 64th Street & First Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10021\" and the phone number 628-2100 — with \"Giant Post Card\" across the right half. The telephone number runs seven digits with no area code, which places the printing in the restaurant\'s operating years.
About this item
Maxwell\'s Plum opened in 1966 and closed in 1988; its fittings, the Tiffany glass among them, were saleed off the following year. Seven views together are about as close as anyone gets now to walking through the room.
