STANLEY No.5-1/2 TYPE 19 1948 - 1961 SMOOTH SOLE PLANE

The type 19 is arguably the best casting Stanley made. These castings are extremely durable dang near bullet proof. They are superb user\'s. I personally have never come across a single type 19 with a crack in the corner of the mouth. And even though many don\'t considered them collectible which makes no sense to me. They are anywhere from 66 to 78 years old not exactly a new plane.

The japanning on the body & frog was cleaned then given a coat of wax.
All the hardware was cleaned and oiled. All screw holes cleaned and oiled.
The rosewood Tote and knob are excellent. Both have been waxed and polished.
The cheeks were hand lapped. rail\'s were cleaned & smoothed out.
The sole was hand lapped & the edge\'s relieved to enhance planes performance. All lapping is done on a large granite slab My opinion the only way to do it right.
Frog seat and face lapped.
Cutter was cleaned and lapped then sharpened. extremely sharp cut\'s excellent shavings.
Cap iron was cleaned and lapped.
Lever cap was cleaned then lapped at contact point.

The plane works superb. Will make a superb user or addition to a collection.
