Photo Overview

This color publicity photo shows British actor Derek Jacobi in a brown monk’s habit standing close beside an actress dressed as a medieval nun, posed in a garden of white flowers. The scene is a costumed period production still, with Derek Jacobi looking intently at the woman, who holds a small bouquet while staring ahead, and the lower right of the image bears a bold black autograph that reads “Best wishes Derek Jacobi.” The reverse has “Derek Jacobi” handwritten in ink as identification, confirming this as a signed fan photo of the renowned UK stage and screen star.

Derek Jacobi is one of Britain’s most acclaimed classical actors, celebrated for roles such as Emperor Claudius in the BBC’s “I, Claudius,” the title role in “Cadfael,” numerous Shakespeare productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and later appearances in series like “Vicious” and “The Crown.” Signed images of Jacobi in period costume appeal strongly to collectors of British theatre and television memorabilia, and attractive costume portraits like this are often kept long term, so grab this desirable hand signed piece now while it is still available to add to your collection.

Text Present

Front lower right, black ink on image:
"Best wishes
Derek Jacobi"

Back, handwritten in pen, center right:
"Derek
Jacobi"

Print analysis:
The image surface shows a regular dot pattern consistent with an offset printed publicity card rather than a darkroom photographic print, and the back is blank card stock without photo paper branding, indicating a mass-produced color photo card later autographed. The signature appears applied directly on top of the printed image with modern ink. This makes it a computer or lithographic reprint image bearing an authentic hand-signed autograph, not a Type 1 photo; as an autograph medium it is best described as a c1990s-2000s printed card with original signature, Type 4 in photo classification terms.
