A beautiful and striking vase in the darkest ruby red glass, so dark it appears black, unless it's held to the light.
It has an intentionally trapped air bubble in its clear base that makes it a very stunning piece.
It has retained its label on the bottom that reads "Gorgeous Designs China".
It is a classic example of Black Amethyst Glass (or heavy oxblood/ruby cased glass) crafted in a Sommerso style (featuring a thick, heavy clear base with a single controlled bubble).
It is a hand-blown art glass piece.
The "Black to Red" Magic:
This effect is highly characteristic of a black amethyst or deep ruby glass formula.
The glass is packed so densely with color elements (like manganese or gold/copper) that it absorbs almost all ambient light and looks pitch black on a shelf.
It only reveals its vibrant deep crimson or plum red when direct light shines through it.
The bottom clear portion is created by dipping the colored glass core into a pot of molten clear glass, trapping a pocket of air at the bottom to form that perfectly encapsulated bubble.
