"The little Mermaid of Copenhagen was created by the Danish sculptor Edvard Eriksen (1876-1959), inspired by Hans Christian Anderson's fairy-tale the Little Mermaid, and to the order of Denmark's greatest patron of arts, the brewer Carl Jacobsen, The Carlsberg Breweries. The Marmaid was cast in bronze and was in 1913 placed on her boulders at the shore of Langelinie by the harbour of Copenhagen."
