This USAF machine embroidered patch measures 3" by 3", used condition.

The 95th Fighter Interceptor Training Squadron, also known as the "Boneheads," was a unit of the United States Air Force that was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. The unit was responsible for training fighter pilots in air-to-air combat and interception tactics.

The Boneheads were originally activated in 1942 as the 95th Pursuit Squadron and served in World War II and the Korean War. In 1963, the unit was re-designated as the 95th Fighter Interceptor Training Squadron and tasked with training pilots to fly the F-102 Delta Dagger and later the F-106 Delta Dart, both of which were designed as air superiority fighters.

The Boneheads played a critical role in training pilots during the Cold War era, when the threat of Soviet bomber attacks was a major concern. The unit's training curriculum included simulated intercepts of enemy aircraft, as well as exercises to practice air combat maneuvering and ground attack tactics.

The Boneheads were also involved in several notable events during their history, including the interception of a Soviet bomber in 1964, which marked the first time that an American fighter had intercepted a Soviet aircraft since the end of World War II.

The 95th Fighter Interceptor Training Squadron was eventually deactivated in 1989 as part of a larger reorganization of the U.S. Air Force's training programs.
