Provenance: This item belonged to my maternal Grandfather, who was known by everyone as \"Buck.\" He worked as a truck mechanic for the Philadelphia Laundry Co. from 1923 until 1950. He then transitioned to become an automobile mechanic at Northeast Lincoln-Mercury from 1950 until 1960. He then went back to being a truck mechanic at Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Pennsauken, N.J. from 1961 until 1971, when he retired. In 1984, he gave me (his only grandson) all of his tools from the 1920s through the 1960s. He is pictured in the second photo, which is from from 1951 during his Lincoln-Mercury days. I have a large toolbox filled with his Snap-on, MAC, Proto, Bluepoint, New Britain, and other antique and vintage mechanics and other tools that I will be listing until they\'re gone. Description: This item is a very clean antique Bridgeport Hardware No. 121 crate opener - axe / hatchet / hammer. It is a heavy-duty multi-tool that was manufactured by the Bridgeport Hardware Manufacturing Corporation. Originally used for unpacking wooden crates, this tool features the combination of a striking face/hammer, a nail puller/pry bar, and a hatchet-style blade.The manufacturer was founded in 1895 as the Bridgeport Manufacturing Company and in 1902 was reorganized as the Bridgeport Hardware Manufacturing Corporation.
