Civil War Period Artillery & Cavalry Boots - Size 12
Veteran Arms is pleased to be able to offer these top quality reproduction Civil War Artillery & Cavalry Boots. Officially adopted for use in 1851, these boots - commonly referred to as "artillery boots" today - were initially only issued to artillery drivers. During the Civil War, however, these boots became the standard issue for mounted men of both the cavalry and artillery service. And while not officially authorized for other use, it is quite apparent from official correspondence and photographic evidence that a large number were worn by infantrymen as well. Indeed, so many were issued to the infantry prior to the Atlanta Campaign in 1864, that orders were issued to the quartermaster to cease the practice in order to maintain inventory enough to sustain the needs of the army's mounted men.
Our reproduction Civil War Artillery Boots are made of top quality leather, rough side out just like the originals, and to the original patterns. Each has a single piece front and integrated bootstraps. The sole is pegged in authentic fashion. While there are cheaper boots available, you will be hard pressed to find a better or more authentic pair.
Offered in whole sizes only.
Orders for multiple items will be combined after checkout in order to reduce shipping costs and the overage refunded.
