Michael Boyett December 10, 1943 - April 28,2015 Michael Boyett grew up in a military environment. His father, a careerofficer in the US Air Force, moved frequently across the US, exposing Michaeland his family to much of the diverse history and romance of our country. As achild, using his vivid imagination, Michael began to draw imaginary scenes offrontier America and early recognition of his artistic talent encouraged him toexplore various forms of art. Combining this growing talent with his naturallove for his nation’s heritage and landscape, seemed to create an almostinseparable pathway for his career. After attending the University of Texas ArtSchool and graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University, Michael joinedthe US Army, where he served as an infantryman during the worst years of theVietnam War. It was there that he was wounded in action in an enemy ambush.That, along with other experiences in Vietnam, burned a deep sensitivity intohis nature which is vividly expressed in his works of art today. Interest inheroic historical America, coupled with desire for realism, lead to thedevelopment of his moving and powerful style. He dramatically stresses thequalities of movement and detail and because of his love for American history -he is careful to portray every detail with precise authenticity . Michaelbelieves that each sculpture should give the viewer the sensation that he hasactually witnessed an event in history. It is equally important to him to paytribute to the significant people and events that have shaped the uniqueheritage of our country. As a professional fine artist, Michael has establisheda considerable reputation in the art world. His sculptures have been producedand sold by various nationally known corporations, fine artgalleries, museums, heads of state, military institutions and distributedthroughout the US and many foreign countries to thousands of collectors. Hisrange of talent has been proven by being able to sculpt in scales fromminiature to monumental with consistent skill and drama.
