This Edito-Service Warplanes series card features the Canadair CP-107 ARGUS, a Canadian reconnaissance and observation aircraft. Card number D1 075 48-09. The ARGUS was developed to replace the Avro Lancaster Mk 10 maritime patrollers for the Royal Canadian Air Force. Based on the Bristol Britannia airliner, it featured fuel-economical piston engines and a redesigned fuselage with weapon bays. The prototype flew in March 1957, with 12 aircraft ordered featuring American APS-20 search radar. The Argus Mk 2 variant included British ASV.Mk 21 radar in a smaller radome, delivered in 1960. The type served until 1971.
