An Original Civil War Commission for a Union Army Corporal issued at Raleigh, North Carolina, April 28th, 1865, just 2 days after General Joseph Johnston's Army of Tennessee surrendered to Sherman at the nearby Bennett Farm, Durham.. The Commission for Corporal William Brandt who enlisted October 5, 1864 and took part in Sherman's March through Georgia and the North and South Carolina Campaigns.was fro Crete, Illinois and is signed by Captain Henry King as regimental commander, and by Sergeant Frank Chester as Acting Adjutant. Comes with service info. Corporal Brandt was from Lisle, Illinois. Captain Henry King from Joliet, who enlisted in 1861 and served the entire War, rising from the ranks to Commander of the 20th. Sergeant Frank Chester served 4 years, and was from Kankakee. 1p 15 x 10" on heavy stock tan paper with the Federal Eagle illustration. Minor age stains, edge wear, Overall VG.
