This Partial Muster Out roll for LT William Colbert, a 49th Missouri (Union) Officer, was issued at Mexico, Missouri November, 1864 and is signed twice by Captain Benjamin Sharp as Captain 9th Missouri SM Cavalry and ACG, 9th Army Corps. Captain Benjamin Sharp who served 3 years with the 9th Missouri, a counter-insurgency unit, fought in in numerous skirmishes including Fayette and Columbia, Missouri with Bushwhackers and Guerrillas including William Quantrill, The 19 x 10\" Roll is missing a 4\" end section, but retains the pertinent information. Comes with service info- Captain William T Colbert, 49th Missouri was a notable citizen of Troy, MO,. He served with the 49th MO, where he contracted malaria in 1864 but continued to serve until the end of the War, with a Promotion to Lt Colonel. Age stains, edge wear, left section missing, archival repair on reverse, one of Captain Sharp\'s 2 signatures is ink smeared.Overall Good Condition. Historic Mexico , Missouri was part of the \"Little Dixie\" region of the State.
