Edward T Abbott of h Company , 20th Connecticut, was wounded in action at Chancellorsville lying wounded on the battlefield for 10 days until taken prisoner, was paroled and again was captured during the Atlanta Campaign and imprisoned at Andersonville Prison , Georgia, but survived and returned to duty til the War\'s End. Postwar he was a noted Waterbury citizen. An Original Civil War veteran letter from Corporal Abbott, one of the last remaining Connecticut veterans, dated Feb 17, 1931 on Dept of Connecticut stationary w illus of GAR Badge,as Connecticut GAR Adjutant General to comrade and former CT GAR Dept Commander George F Meech, reporting his visit to the Soldiers Home in Noroton. He names the comrades who visited with him, his plan with Comrade Noxon to close the Post, the members to dispose of the Post Property as they see fit, , but \'hold the Post Charters to the Last man\", and sends him the 1930 Post report and General Orders.
