Sergeant Edwin T Scott of Cuba, New York served with the 12th New York Cavalry.. An Original Civil War Letter from Sergeant Scott at Camp Palmer, North Carolina, November 10th, 1864- He writes "Dear Girl", the beautiful night reminds him of the happy hours spent at home. He is writing in his shirt sleeves, despite it being wintertime, He reports they are building houses for the winter, with details-his has a nice little room, a door facing South, and a west window, Much more comfortable that the tents! He also asks for family news, gives news of the regiment "and "kisses their daughter little Lucy", etc.. The Letter is signed "Your Affectionate Husband Ed" Comes with typed transcript and Service info- The 12th NY Cavalry fought in North Carolina, Edwin was one of the 12th NY Cavalry soldiers who escaped capture at Plymouth, North Carolina , while his wife Lola's brother-Henry also serving with him was captured with most of the regiment and died at Andersonville.Prison, Georgia. .Edwin served to the the War serving to 1865. 2pp 8 x 11" ink.
