1990 Chilmark "Buffalo Spirit" Fine Pewter Sculpture. Limited edition Chilmark fine pewter sculpture by artist Don Polland (1932-2003). Titled "BuffaloSpirit'' and numbered 303/2500 Donald Polland was a pioneer, like the many characters he created and portrayed in his sculptures. In the late fifties he broke with tradition by creating his western themed sculptures in miniature and keeping most under 8in high. This brought quality sculptures within the reach of a greater number of people in both cost and ease of display. In 1973 Polland joined up with Chilmark and then began a new period of American Western art. Signed and numbered on base with a Chilmark Medallion. Approx. Keywords: Native American, Indian.
