Original Cartoon and Model Parade, 36th Edition, published by legendary New York pin-up photographer and publisher Irving Klaw, who identifies himself directly on the cover as “The Pin-Up King.”
This is an original period mail-order catalog from Klaw\'s famous operation at 212 East 14th Street, New York City, filled with photographs and advertisements for pin-up models, Hollywood actresses, high-heel photography and Klaw\'s 16mm films. Cartoon and Model Parade was Klaw\'s mail-order catalog for his extensive inventory of pin-up and specialty photography.
The cover features Jean Williams – Popular Model #JW-11 and the original 50-cent price.
Inside are pages devoted to Klaw\'s High Heel Poses and Popular Cheesecake Model Poses, with dozens of models including Shirley Maitland, Shirley Levitt, Joan Rydell, Lois Meriden, Lilli Dawn, Vicki Hayes, Cindy Heller, Baby Lake and many others.
Another remarkable page offers “Pin-Up Poses of Popular Actresses”, including Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner, Doris Day, Yvonne DeCarlo, Esther Williams, Shelley Winters, Linda Darnell, Virginia Mayo, Jeanne Crain, Terry Moore and others.
The catalog also advertises Klaw\'s 16mm films, including Lilli Dawn, Siren of Tease, Hosiery Honeys in High Heels and Sultry Queen in High Heels. A later 1979 book reprinted this 36th Edition together with another early Klaw catalog, further documenting the significance and collectibility of these original publications.
An exceptional piece of original Irvaing Klaw / New York pin-up history and a fascinating surviving catalog from the business that became closely associated with the golden age of American pin-up photography.
Condition: Good vintage condition with expected handling and age wear. There is visible edge and corner wear, creasing, toning and some small edge tears, but the catalog remains complete-looking and highly presentable for its age. Please review all photos for condition and details.
