A 5.5x3" vintage RPPC photo postcard from the estate of a vintage automobile postcard collector. This was part of a huge collection of antique postcards.
Photo Overview
This real photo postcard captures four well-dressed people seated in an early brass-era touring automobile parked along a dirt road in a small American town. The passengers - identified on the reverse as Oscar Frederick, Beulah, Daisy, and Francis - are dressed in their Sunday finest, with the woman up front wearing a magnificent broad-brimmed hat trimmed with flowers and a light-colored dress. A man in a straw boater sits behind the steering wheel while another couple occupies the rear tonneau seat.
The vehicle appears to be a circa 1908-1910 open touring car of the brass era, showing the characteristic round brass headlamps, side lamps mounted on the cowl, wooden artillery-style spoke wheels, and a right-hand steering position typical of American cars of this period. The rounded hood and radiator suggest a mid-priced runabout or touring model of the day. A license plate reading 12727 is mounted at the front. Behind the group stands a tall board-and-batten shed or barn, a white picket fence, and a modest frame house shaded by leafy trees, capturing everyday small-town life in the earliest years of the automobile age.
