Overall length about 10 in. Blade length about 5 in. The interior of the box measures only 10.25 in. Most online listings show a longer Model 3 (about 7 in. blade / 12.13 in. overall). This example is the shorter size and fits its box.

New old stock. Still in original wrapping and box with leather sheath. The aluminum buttcap shows visible pitting as seen in the close-up photos. No other issues observed on the blade or handle. Look closely at the photos.

Description & History

BlackJack Knives was founded in 1987 by Mike Stewart. The original company closed around 1997. The trademark later passed to Ken Warner’s Knifeware Inc. and was later owned by Blue Ridge Knives and Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Mike Stewart’s shop has manufactured USA-made BlackJack knives across these ownership periods.

This is a shorter Model 3. It has an A-2 tool steel blade marked “1st Production Run,” black micarta scales with red liners, an aluminum guard and pommel with lanyard hole, and the original leather sheath marked GLLW. Overall length is about 10 in. with an approximately 5 in. blade. The interior of the box is only 10.25 in., so it is not the longer version shown in most online listings. Exact production period is not confirmed.

This example remains in its original box and wrapping. The only noted issue is the pitting on the aluminum buttcap, which is visible in the photos and common on some aluminum fittings from long-term storage.
