Pottery Vase by artisan Harrison Jim, Jr. His mother is Marianne Navasie -3rd Frog Woman. His grandmother is Joy Navasie _2nd Frog Woman.- of the famed Paqua Naha, 1st Frog Woman Family (Hopi-Tewa).
This Hopi hand coiled two toned polychrome pottery is made by traditional methods using natural clay which is gathered and prepared. Harrison gets his clay from Hopi land. It is handmade, hand coiled, hand polished with stone and hand painted with natural pigments that he makes from mother nature. He also makes his own brushes from yucca plants. The pottery is fired outdoors with sheep dung.This vase was natural yellow clay when molded and turned red after firing. The body of the vase has a soft terra cotta background. Most of the body of the vase and top rim have a darker rusty orange background.The background is applied to a polished vase, painted with black (bee weed) and accented with red clay.This vase is decorated with a variety of designs surrounding the entire vase with black bounded outlining the design on the top and bottom. It has a beautiful sheen and is in superb/excellent new handmade condition.It is signed at the bottom with his Hallmark which is a frog pictorial with webbed toes and a tadpole along with Jim\'s Hallmark the letter HJ joined together with the H atop the J with an R adjacent.
