This is a beautiful, large piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a group of 4 fulgoroid insects with a small larva from the Cretaceous Period.
The amber fossil itself has a lovely cherry red color (all natural and untreated) when viewed in natural sunlight due in part to natural fluorescence and would look great in jewelry as a pendant. The first 5 pictures along with the last picture were taken under natural sunlight.
The majority of this piece is polished while the remainder is left in the rough as mined.
These insects lived when dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops were on the Earth!
The piece itself weighs 9.4 grams with approximate dimensions of 3.1 cmlength by 2.6 cm width and1.6 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.

Burmese (Burmite) amber has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaursand is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar(Burma).

Please note that the saltwater test to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwater test claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink.
However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink. I do not sell fake amber. My response should help demonstrate this.
