Barry Windsor-Smith — Original 1973 Cover Painting for K'ing Kung-Fu #2: Return of the Opium WarsOwn a rare piece of illustration history from one of the most influential creators in comic and fantasy art. Painted in 1973 by the legendary Barry Windsor-Smith, this original oil painting was commissioned as the cover artwork for the paperback novel K'ing Kung-Fu #2: Return of the Opium Wars. Created during a pivotal era of Windsor-Smith’s career, this signed work is a standout example of his early transition into fine commercial illustration and painted storytelling.Set against a rich, atmospheric emerald and turquoise gradient, the painting captures two martial artists locked in an acrobatic mid-air grapple. Beneath the tumbling figures, a menacing, crimson-hued visage and outstretched hand rise from the bottom edge, creating an immediate sense of scale, drama, and narrative tension. The artwork comes professionally matted in crisp white with a gold-tone inner bevel, housed in an ornate, classical gold-and-black relief frame ready for immediate display.
