American singer, songwriter and musician and legendary rock and roll pioneer, BUDDY HOLLYautograph light pink-color album page with his band THE CRICKETS, featuring drummer JERRY ALLISON and JOE MAULDIN on bass. Holly signs with the largest signature of the three in blue ink pen. The album page was almost certainly signed on the March 1958 tour of England, the original autograph album which housed the set featured names like English musician Gary Miller who played alongside Holly on tour. Less than a year after signing the album page, Holly would tragically die in a plane crash.
Holly was just 22 when he died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959 – an event infamously known as \"The Day The Music Died\". During his short career, Holly wrote and recorded many songs including hits like \"That\'ll Be The Day\", \"Peggy Sue\", and \"Crying, Waiting, Hoping\". He is often regarded as the artist who defined the traditional rock-and-roll lineup of two guitars, bass, and drums. Holly was a major influence on later popular music artists, including Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and the Rolling Stones. Holly was among the first artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Famein 1986.Rolling Stonemagazine ranked him #13 in its list of 100 Greatest Artists in 2010 and #20 in their 100 Greatest Songwriters.
