This very nice 16.5” diameter eopachydiscus marcianus ammonite is near-perfect on both sides, with incredible detail down to the center and beautiful sutures adorning certain areas of the surface. This specimen comes from a Duck Creek formation exposure in Tarrant County, TX, where it was found eroding out of a limestone wall along a creek. I personally prepared this ammonite using air tools. This would make a GREAT display specimen.

I reinforced several hairline cracks but the ammonite has never broken. My efforts should prevent any tiny crack from becoming a problem later, though leaving the fossil in extreme hot/cold/wet outdoor environments will always lead to erosion and issues with the fossil. Its estimated age of 90-100 million years old places it in the age of dinosaurs, when a vast sea known as the western interior seaway covered the middle of the North American continent.
