This listing is for a very rare Authentic Original Vintage USAF US Air Force B-52 Stratofortress Aerial Gunners 1966-1991 Farewell Embroidered Military Patch. This is a commemorative U.S. Air Force (USAF) military embroidered patch honoring the history of the B-52 Stratofortress Aerial Gunners, who served from 1955 to 1991. It the conclusion of the defensive tail gunner era on the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress heavy bomber. For 36 years, active-duty aerial gunners operated the radar-directed defensive tail guns of the aircraft. In 1991, following the conclusion of Operation Desert Storm, the Air Force phased out the tail gunner position entirely as a budget-cutting measure and because modern electronic countermeasures and air-to-air missiles made conventional tail guns less effective.
The patch will be mailed in a rigid cardboard envelope and tracking will be provided.
