This rare FV‑marked French nautical demijohn dates to the 1950s–1970s (time frame these were being produced) and was produced by Verreries de Vianne (formerly Verreries de Solgne de Vianne), a historic glassworks in Lot‑et‑Garonne, France. They were one of France’s historic glassworks known for their heavy, bubble‑rich utilitarian vessels. Crafted in thick blue‑green glass with a distinctive bubble bottom, this teardrop‑form Dame Jeanne was originally used for wine, cider, oil, and spirits. Mid‑century French fishermen frequently repurposed these durable vessels as maritime floats, wrapping them in rope netting for protection and buoyancy.
The bottle retains its authentic rope‑netting, a hallmark of working nautical gear, giving it the unmistakable look of a mid‑century maritime artifact. The raised FV maker’s mark (F centered above V) confirms its French origin andconfirms production by Vianne elevates it above genericcoastal/nautical décor.Collectors prize FV‑marked examples for their scarcity, French origin, and crossover history from agricultural use to maritime adaptation. A striking example of authentic mid‑century coastal heritage.
A striking piece of true nautical heritage, perfect for maritime collectors, coastal interiors, lake houses, beach home, mid‑century décor, or anyone seeking an authentic French glass nautical artifact with both beauty and provenance. Displays beautifully on shelves, mantels, bookcases, or as part of a curated maritime vignette.

Seller Status and Rationale
I’m an individual seller, not a business, andeverything I list comes from my own home — including items inherited from mymother. I’m liquidating these pieces for a very specific reason, and because ofthat, I cannot and will not absorb shipping costs or negotiate them.
Some people may be surprised that I’m bluntabout this, but after answering the same messages over and over, I’ve learnedto be direct. I already price my items fairly. If you can’t understand thatshipping costs are simply part of buying anything online, then I’m not theseller for you.
It gets exhausting dealing with messages frombuyers who think the shipping cost should magically be cheaper than the itemitself. If you like the item but think the shipping cost makes the total morethan you want to pay, that’s perfectly fine — but please don’t message measking to negotiate it, and don’t purchase expecting a refund oradjustment afterward. I won’t negotiate shipping before or after the sale.
Thank you for understanding and respecting theboundaries of my shop.
