Welcome to my listing for:
Auditorium Hotel 1895 ALS Stationary Letterhead Scarce - A.M Holter Hardware
The Elkhorn Mining Company was founded in 1875 by A.M Holter - a Virginia City pioneer - who also established the A.M. Holter Hardware Co. By 1888, Elkhorn peaked and was home to 2,500 residents and the mine was producing approx. $1,000 a day in mostly silver ore. In 1892, the price of silver dropped drastically and the boom was over for Elkhorn. The mine was closed, then re-opened several times over the next 45-50 years since first closing in 1899 - with fewer and fewer men working it each time it reopened. This piece appears to be just after the 1st price drop - and the company was adjusting and also returning some supplies.
Minor signs of age and handling. Expected fold creases from posting. Light toning. No major issues to note.Eye-catching illustrated building / busy street vignette and fancy header typefaces / fonts. All text are neatly written and mostly easily legible. Overall, in good to very good condition. Will display well in your collection. You will receive the exact sheet in the photos. It measures approx. 5 7/8" x 9 1/4"
