Antique c1900 Spinning Globe Rolling Ball Hotel Counter Bell Marble Base
Features a spherical silver-plated brass bell mounted within a dark metal cradle with side turning knobs, supported on a pedestal and square stone/marble base. Rather than pressing a conventional bell button, the globe is rotated using the side knobs to activate the bell mechanism.
A wonderful early hotel, general store, front desk or countertop collectible and a particularly unusual variation of the traditional service bell.
The bell retains a wonderful aged surface with substantial patina, tarnish and areas of plating loss consistent with its age.
Condition: Please note the visible crack in the lower metal pedestal/foot shown clearly in the photographs. There is also surface oxidation, tarnish, plating wear and age-related wear to the metal, along with minor staining/wear to the stone base. The piece appears substantially complete.
If you\'ve tested it and it rings, add:
“Bell is functional and produces a clear ringing tone when the globe is rotated.”
