A striking early twentieth century illustrated postcard depicting a massive Saguaro cactus towering to an advertised height of 60 feet in the Arizona desert. Several men in period dress stand at the base of the enormous specimen alongside a horse-drawn wagon, providing dramatic scale to the giant plant. The cactus displays multiple tall arms, including several dramatically curved lower limbs, giving it an unusually striking silhouette. Desert mountains and a colorful sky form the background in warm lithographic tones. The back text promotes the beauty and variety of Arizona desert plant life, specifically mentioning the Saguaro, cucumber cactus, and yucca cactus. The publisher imprint in the lower left corner appears to be Curt Teich (CT Co.), one of the most respected American postcard publishers of the era. The catalog number A-33343 is printed at the bottom center. Stamp box indicates domestic postage of one cent and foreign two cents, consistent with the Divided Back era of 1907 to 1915. This is a Divided Back era printed lithograph postcard in Excellent condition. Colors remain vivid with no fading. The card is entirely unused with no writing, address, or postmark. Corners are sharp and the stock is clean and sound with only the lightest age toning on the reverse. A wonderful example of early Arizona promotional postcard art, appealing to collectors of Southwestern Americana, cactus and desert subjects, Curt Teich publisher material, and natural history postcards. A great addition to any Western or Arizona state collection.
