Antique c1910 Westmoreland Brown Art Decorated Milk Glass Portrait Vase For Sale

Antique Westmoreland art-decorated milk glass portrait vase, circa 1905–1920, with a rich Rookwood-style brown finish designed to imitate glazed art pottery. This unusual early American glass vase features a bulbous body, gracefully tapered neck, and flared opening. The front displays a detailed sepia-toned portrait of a bearded gentleman wearing a wrapped headdress. The underlying opaque white milk glass is visible on the underside. Fine lines and striations throughout the glass are characteristics of the original glassmaking process, not cracks. The brown decorative finish exhibits subtle variations in color intensity, including small lighter-toned patches where the coloration is less uniform. These are variations within the finish, not areas worn down to the white glass.Measures approximately 4¾ inches tall and 5 inches wide. Unmarked base.An appealing example of early Westmoreland art-decorated glass. Please examine all photographs.
