Beautiful antique circa 1900 Tunbridge Ware vesta case / match safe in an unusual miniature book form.
Crafted from wood and decorated with intricate multicolor mosaic inlay, including tiny floral and geometric patterns characteristic of Tunbridge Ware. The case opens from both sides and retains the rough match-striking surface along the edge.
A wonderful small example of antique Tunbridge Ware with beautiful detail and lots of character.
Measurements: Approximately 2 1/2” x 1.75” x 1/2”.
Condition
Good antique condition with expected wear consistent with age and use, including surface wear, scratches, rubbing and discoloration. One side is loose and opens considerably farther than the other, as shown in the photos. The striker shows wear from age and use. Mosaic decoration remains attractive and detailed.
