Measuring approximately 1½ inches in diameter, the button features orange printing on a cream-colored background, a central horse-drawn carriage illustration, and wording celebrating Brookfield’s churches, schools, and business community. The original wire pin and catch remain present, and the pin opens, closes, and fastens properly.
Based on its construction, typography, and subject matter, the pinback is believed to date to approximately 1900–1910. No matching example of this exact E. Bettelheim & Co. button was located during our research. Its combination of early transportation advertising and specific Brookfield, Missouri history makes it an uncommon survivor from the horse-drawn era.
