Antique Western Electric Telephone Scissor Arm Wall Lamp – 1906 Patent – Green Cased Glass Shade – Original Receiver Included
This is a one-of-a-kind antique industrial wall lamp made from an original Western Electric telephone scissor-arm receiver/earpiece holder. The scissor mechanism is patent dated May 1, 1906 and still retains the original telephone hook/receiver holder.
The lamp has been assembled using antique lighting components, including an antique green cased glass shade and an antique brass socket with branded paddle switch. The original Western Electric telephone earpiece/receiver is included with the lamp, so the buyer can display it hanging from the original hook if desired.
This would be an excellent light to mount high on a wall and extend out over a chair, couch, reading nook, desk, or workbench. The scissor arm allows the lamp to fold compactly against the wall, extend outward when needed, and swing approximately 180° side-to-side for adjustable positioning. It has a great antique industrial look while still being very functional as a reading light, task light, library light, office light, bar light, or workbench lamp.
Measurements:Fully compacted against the wall: approximately 11 1/2\" from the wall to the front edge of the shade.
Fully extended outward: approximately 29\" from the wall to the front edge of the shade.
Overall hanging height: approximately 27\" from the bottom edge of the shade to the very top of the brass earpiece holder.
Side-to-side movement: approximately 180° swing.
Condition:Lamp is in overall good antique condition with normal age-related wear, patina, oxidation, and signs of use. The green cased glass shade presents very well. There are a few chips around the shade fitter area, but they are hidden when the shade is installed and are not visible during normal display.
The antique socket, Western Electric scissor arm, receiver hook, original telephone receiver, and related hardware show authentic age and character. The wall-mount brackets/flange mounts were custom made/added by me for this lamp conversion and are not original Western Electric factory mounting brackets.
This is an antique converted/custom lamp made using antique telephone and lighting parts. It should be inspected or installed by a qualified person before regular use. Please review all photos carefully.
