Authentic antique Victorian wooden picture frame featuring a thick, solid wood construction with an ebonized finish and carved decorative detailing. This rare decorative arts frame includes a classic oval opening, suitable for displaying an antique portrait, photograph, or mirror.
The frame has a rectangular outer shape with engraved corner details and a smooth oval center surround, consistent with late 19th century Victorian decorative arts craftsmanship. An engraved patent mark dated October 1871 is present, supporting genuine antique age and historical value.
This is a substantial, heavy frame with noticeable depth and quality workmanship. Wear is consistent with age and use. The original wooden retaining stick on the back is missing, which is common for antique frames of this period and does not affect wall display when properly secured.
