LARGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WOMAN PORTRAIT – APPROX. 22” x 17”
Beautiful and haunting antique photographic portrait depicting a woman wearing a dark Victorian-style dress with a delicate lace collar.
Believed to date from the late 19th or early 20th century, this oversized portrait appears to be an early photographic enlargement on a fabric or canvas-like support.
The exposed woven textile backing is clearly visible in several damaged areas.
The exact photographic process has not been identified. It may be an early photographic enlargement with hand-retouched details, but this has not been confirmed.
