Up for sale is a piece of late-Victorian American folk art: a handmade Tramp Art Cigar Box Lid dating to the late 1890s or early 1900s.
The top of the lid features its original, vibrant chromolithograph advertising label for \"The House-Keeper\" cigars. The underside showcases classic Tramp Art craftsmanship, featuring meticulously notch-carved, layered geometric wood pieces held together by small period nails.
This is a wonderful, raw piece of primitive Americana that works beautifully as unique rustic wall art or a country store display riser.
Condition & Flaws (Sold As-Is):
- Please note that this listing is for the top lid only; the bottom half of the box is not present.
- The historical paper advertising label shows honest signs of significant age, including water staining, dark spotting/foxing, and edge chipping.
- There are a few old metal staples/nails driven through the top face of the artwork from historical use, as seen in the photos.
Please review all photos closely to verify the exact condition of this unique antique folk art piece!
