Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible, genuine 19th-century Victorian Staffordshire bisque porcelain miniature hen on nest.
This piece functions as an individual table open salt cellar or personal trinket dish.
Authenticity & Construction Details:
* Hand-Pressed Interior: The inside of both pieces features traditional hand-pressed ceramic textures, finger whorls, and artisan tool wipe marks rather than modern smooth slip-casting.
* Primitive Vent Hole: The base features an original, rough, hand-pierced firing/vent hole extending cleanly from the inner floor to the unglazed bottom base.
* Paint Details: Features a classic basket-weave nest base configuration with cold-painted green pigment detailing trapped safely inside the protected inner rim lip.
Condition:
* Excellent Antique Structure: No post-production cracks, breaks, or chips. Features a typical, stable period in-mold slip/firing line at the neck from original manufacturing.
* Character Aging: There is dark, natural discoloration/organic residue trapped inside the unglazed inner ceramic crevices, which is normal and expected for early functional salt-wares.
* Paint Wear: The cold paint on the feathers and comb shows typical, age appropriate historical wear.
