Stunning Antique Victorian Photo Album – Gorgeous Re-Covered Purple Velvet with Raised Celluloid Floral OverlayThis is a truly striking piece of Victorian history, perfect as an authentic display element for a period home, historic library, or maximalist decor.This cabinet card album features an incredibly vibrant, rich purple velvet exterior. While the plush velvet wrapping is alater historical re-coverand not original to the piece, it provides a stunning, high-contrast backdrop for the original antique elements.I always wondered what one of these looked like when brand new and this is probably pretty close to how it looked (exterior). The interior has wear (described below) and does not contain any photos (save for a couple photo strips on the back, inner cover).Key Features:

• Intricate Celluloid Overlay:The front cover features a gorgeous, dimensional cream celluloid applique. It consists of a heavily embossed, ornate corner frame that extends into a beautiful, flowing branch of raised daisies cascading down the velvet.
• Gilt Edges:The heavy paper blocks feature thick, bright gold gilt edges that look spectacular when the album is viewed from the side profile.
• Period Interior:The inner pages feature lovely, original lithographed illustrations of lilacs, bees, and butterflies typical of the late 1800s.

Condition Notes:

• One half of the original metal closing latch is missing from the side profile.There is a faint mark on the back cover velvet.The interior pages show wear, old tape/tears/age-related degradation. Handwritten names on some margins.
