Authentic Antique 3D Dresden Paper Lantern Ornament

A beautiful, original piece of Victorian-era Dresdner Pappe (embossed cardboard), likely produced in Germany between the 1890s and 1920s. Perfect for collectors of antique Christmas ornaments and highly detailed paper crafts.

• ​Design: The center features a brightly lithographed, glossy paper insert with striking purple, white, green, and yellow bands.

• ​Top Cap: Features an intricate, swirled overlapping foil pattern.

• ​Hanging: Retains an original, aged red string for display.

Good antique condition with wear expected from a fragile, 100+ year-old paper item.

• ​There is a small tear in the overhanging edge of the top cap, as well as a split on the lower scalloped base.

• ​The lower scalloped edges exhibit general crushing.

• ​The bottom framework seam is intact where the die-cut cardboard was originally joined (this is an assembly overlap, not a damage point).

• ​Note on Manufacture: Because these were entirely hand-assembled, there are visible areas of original adhesive. You will see a bead of clear/amber glue near the bottom seam, as well as dark, dried amber glue pooling deeply inside the recessed swirls of the top cap. These glue marks are standard for authentic pieces of this era and serve as excellent indicators of its handmade origins.
