ANTIQUE QING DYNASTY / QING-PERIOD TIBETAN BUDDHIST RITUAL BOWL, Yin & Yang
A magnificent and highly decorative antique Tibetan ceremonial bowl, traditionally attributed to the Qing Dynasty period, displaying a dramatic combination of deep black lacquer ground and aged silver decoration.
Measuring approximately 8 inches (20.3 cm) in diameter and weighing approximately 38 oz (1.08 kg), the bowl has a substantial presence and an unusually impressive decorative surface.
The exterior is richly ornamented with large stylized floral and lotus-like motifs, auspicious Buddhist/Tibetan Yin&Yang symbols, scrolling elements and repeating geometric borders. The contrasting black and antique-silver palette gives the vessel a particularly dramatic appearance, while the aged surface and areas of wear contribute to its authentic antique character.
The interior features a large central floral/lotus-Yin&Yang medallion, surrounded by stylized petal forms. The decoration appears to have been applied by traditional hand-working/decorative techniques, giving the surface an individual character rather than the uniform appearance of modern mass production.

Condition
The bowl has a genuinely aged antique appearance, with visible surface wear, rubbing and losses to portions of the gilt decoration, as well as scratches and marks consistent with age and previous use. The photographs form an important part of the condition description. There is a linear crack of metal at 1 o’clock with 2in prolonged line that should me mentioned.
