Offered is pair of antique Thomas A. Edison Battery Oil bottles, dating to the early 20th century.These clear glass bottles are embossed with:EDISON BATTERY OILMADE IN U.S.A.THOMAS A. EDISON INCORPORATEDBLOOMFIELD, N.J.U.S.A.The reverse features the embossed Thomas A. Edison signature along with trademark/patent wording.The bottles have different markings on the bottoms, please see pictures.These bottles were made for battery oil used with Edison storage batteries. Edison storage batteries were used in applications including railroad signaling and other electrical equipment. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History has examples of these Edison battery oil bottles in its collection and dates an example to approximately 1910. Condition: Both bottles appear to be in good antique condition with clear embossed lettering. They have expected signs of age and handling, including light surface wear/scuffs.
