Antique J.R. Rochester Brass Oil Lamp – September 14, 1886 Patent
Beautiful antique Rochester oil lamp featuring an ornate embossed brass reservoir, decorative pedestal base, and perforated metal burner assembly.
The lamp is clearly marked:
THE JR ROCHESTER – PAT. SEP 14 1886
The richly detailed brasswork features repeating leaf and floral patterns around the reservoir and pedestal, characteristic of Victorian-era decorative height with pictured chimney: approximately 12 pre-owned condition with attractive aged brass patina, tarnish, oxidation, and normal surface wear.
Brass adjustment lever moves freely and operates mechanically.
No wick installed; wick-feeding operation has not been verified.
Included glass chimney has an approximately 1⅝-inch base diameter and is too large to fit correctly between the burner retaining fingers, which are approximately 1½ inches apart.
Glass chimney is included as pictured but is not properly fitted to this lamp.
Lamp has not been fueled, lit, or tested for leaks or operation.
The lamp is being sold as an antique collectible or restoration piece, with no guarantee of operational condition.
